 Release Date: February 14, 2015

Synopsis

Ticketing agent Jessamy Taylor has been in a dating slump exacerbated by moving her sickly mother into her home. The truth is she’s never gotten over the quirky Dr. Griffin Sanderson whose Obsessive Compulsive Disorder drives her crazy, despite his excellent bedside manner.

Fly Me to the Moon is a love song covered by many, the most memorable being Frank Sinatra. Griffin whistles this tune incessantly, but that’s just one of the many odd quirks Jessamy Taylor either loves or hates about him. Since their ill-fated love affair two years prior, she’s found no one to replace the good doctor.

A date with a self-absorbed jerk that goes awry for Jessamy somehow ends with her in Griffin’s arms. Will the changes he’s made be enough this time, or will secrets tear them apart?

Chapter 2

Kyla rasped, “I-Is that Griffin petting a dog over there?”

Jessamy shielded her eyes with her hand and peered across the cul-de-sac. If she’d seen it first, she might have choked on her lemonade, too. Griffin Sanderson was petting the Fowlers’ dog. “Oh my God, he is!”

“Don’t they have like a gazillion germs or something? And what happened to his glasses?”

“Actually, some would argue that dogs are cleaner than humans. And Griffin got contacts.”

“Finally. You know, Jess, he’s looking kind of good, today. You might want to tap that again since he’s had a makeover and all.”

Jessamy waved her off. “I couldn’t possibly.”

“Why not? The guy I see over there looks infinitely tappable.” Kyla set her drink on the table and folded her arms.

Jessamy sipped her lemonade. “He may look tappable today, but you didn’t have to experience what I did with him as his girlfriend for two years. I should’ve called it quits after our Christmas trip to the Poconos, but I had fallen for him, and like so many misinformed women in history before me, I thought I could change him.”

“You’d think you two would’ve been great together, twin OCD and all. And I thought you said the trip to the Poconos was perfect.” Kyla said, air-quoting the word perfect.

“Everything was perfect up until that trip. We had so much in common. We both loved science fiction. We were both G.R.R. Martin geeks who watched the Game of Thrones show together and nitpicked how the show differed from the books. And even though I had the books on my kindle, he gifted me the hardbacks as a three-month anniversary present.” Jessamy smiled at the memory.

“I remember. You two were enough to make regular folks gag.”

“And you and Carter don’t—with your copious PDA?”

Kyla laughed. “But at least we don’t get all aroused over an episode of The Big Bang Theory.”

“Carter likes that show.”

“Not more than he likes me, though.” Kyla actually twirled her hair.

“Is he coming today?”

“Yeah, after he does his Saturday morning nine holes with his boss. Ugh!”

“Good, we’re going to need all the people we can get to eat up all this food.” Jessamy eyed the tables balefully.

“Look!” Kyla said. “Griffin’s holding the Fowlers’ baby. Now doesn’t that make your ovaries want to explode?”

Jessamy turned her head slowly, knowing the sight would slay her. Griffin never held babies. She took it all in as if in slow motion. Mark was holding their toddler in place as Jenny was cleaning up the sticky Popsicle he was covered in, while Griffin was holding the four-month old. He cradled her a bit nervously at first, then he seemed to get his baby-holding legs under him and finally began to smile and talk to her.

Jessamy and Kyla could hear her baby giggle from where they stood. “Aww!” They said in tandem.

CHRISTMAS WITH THE WHITE BROTHERS by L.V. Lewis ~ #ASMSG #IR/MC #EroticRomance

Say what? L.V. Lewis has written another book?

Follow-upWell, yes. What I’ve always known, and what has become exceedingly apparent in my time away from actively writing and publishing is that something that is your passion cannot be left to lie fallow. It gets in your blood, it becomes part of you that refuses to be restrained.

As many of you know, I had some personal family crises earlier this year, and I believed that my epic writer’s block was caused by all these things that happened back-to-back. Now that some of these issues have been addressed, I was able to finally exercise my creative muscle again, and just in time for the holidays!CWTWB - Tristan Promo

So, this short novella, Christmas With The White Brothers, became that last thing I had to do in the erotic realm before I completely move on to other genres. It also serves the dual purpose of introducing you to the writer who will complete the Jungle Fever saga, LaVie EnRose. You can read more about Ms. EnRose in the newsletter I sent out earlier today via Mailchimp, and also at the back of the novella :).

Additionally, there are some excerpts in my backmatter from an author I’ve featured here on my blog, Bev Elle, a new author in the IR/MC genre whom I also met at a local writer’s group. Check out her books if you need some reading variety.

Many of you will recognize a portion of this novella as a scene I wrote for the members of my Facebook Group, The Block. However, LaVie and I added approximately thirteen thousand words to it to bring you Christmas With The White Brothers as a bridge to Double Switch in 2015!

LaVie and I will work together sometimes much like other writing duos do in the industry (think Christina Lauren), but her name alone will go on Double Switch and the final as yet unnamed book in the series. So, without further ado, I’d like to share the buy links, summary, and a brief excerpt from Christmas With The White Brothers!

Jada Jameson’s dark past may be surprising to some considering the family she comes from. Nathan White wants her in every way a man wants a woman, but she needs hardcore kink, and the pace at which their relationship is progressing has left her wanting more.

Will the ladies of Kente Studio Records get everything they want from their first Christmas with the White brothers?

EXCERPT, Chapter 5

Tristan comes prepared, of course. He has a big-assed gift bag for Mama, and even a present for the Reverend. I shake my head.

“What?” he says.

“You never do anything half-assed,” I say.

He smirks. “It’s like you like to say, ‘Go big or stay home.’”

Those are strange words coming from a man the cost of whose suit could feed all the homeless people in Chicago on Christmas Day. He reaches in to ring the doorbell, but I touch his hand and stop him.

“Why do you go to such lengths with my mother? I’m your submissive. Nothing more.” I gesture toward his gifts. “All this is making her think this thing between us is more than it really is.”

He seems taken aback for a moment, but then he responds. “You’re wrong. You’re my business partner, and I’d hope after almost a year you would now consider me a friend.”

“With benefits,” I say morosely. “At this rate, you’re going to have to break up with both of us when you decide it’s time to move on.”

“Do you want me to beg off? I could get a call and leave.”

I don’t get to answer because Mama swings the door open. “Well, are you two going to stand out here yakking, or are you coming in?”

“Coming in.”

“Most definitely,” Tristan and I say almost simultaneously.

While he leans in and gives Mama a hug and presents her with his gift, Reverend Johnson gives me a hug. After all the greetings are done, and we’ve hung our coats on the coat tree, Mama grabs her camera off an end table.

“There’s mistletoe,” she says pointing at the ceiling above us.

“I’ve never been one to let a perfectly good cluster of mistletoe go to waste,” Tristan says and sweeps me into his arms and plants a back-bending, dramatic movie-style kiss on me.

“Awww,” Mama says and snaps, but the camera’s flash malfunctions. “One more, one more.”

“So sad, you missed your chance,” I say, and begin to move away.

Mama’s not having it. “Come on, Keisha, be a sport now. Tristan, don’t let her get away.”

Of course, he does exactly what Mama says and pulls me back underneath the mistletoe. “Come on, sweetheart, let’s make this holiday memorable for your mother.” Tristan scoots in close, bends his knees, and holds me in a tight hug, cheek-to-cheek, our faces angled toward Mama and her camera.

“Big smile,” Mama says. We smile on cue and she gets her money shot, but Tristan doesn’t let me go. He leans in and kisses me tenderly really laying it on thick for Mama.

“Awww,” she says again. “You remind us old geezers what it’s like to be young and in love.”

Tristan and I both stiffen, but I recover first and pat his back, like I’m soothing him, because I’m sure those words have shocked the shit out of him. My eyes shoot daggers at Mama, but she just smiles and acts all aloof.

Synopsis

They were the most unlikely pair to fall in love. . .

A golden boy with a dark past. A bi-racial girl with epic faith. These two weren’t supposed to survive the system, sketchy origins and all.
Trevor Kyle has loved Shanice Bailey forever—from the time they both landed in the Baptist Children’s Home until they were young adults raised by adoptive families that had no resemblance to the worlds from which they came. Trevor has always been her protector and champion even when he was busy pushing her away for her own good.

Shanice has always taken her faith in Trevor seriously. Her childhood oath is strengthened when she learns the true meaning of family. But After Trevor’s adoptive parents die tragically and his bachelor uncle takes him in, she finds that the boy she’s always looked up to has changed, and not for the better. Yet, she can’t bring herself to forget him as her pure childhood love for him blossoms into something more.

The most generous heart and truest faith does not travel an easy path. Just when Trevor thinks he’s found a way to keep his promise to be with Shanice forever, a specter from the past threatens their future plans.

EXCERPT, Chapter 12, Obsidian Faith

“You want to be a doctor?” Trevor said.

“No, a nurse. I want to help people get over drug addiction and stuff, but I don’t want to go to school for all the years it takes to be a doctor.”

“That’s cool. Just don’t fall for some doctor and forget about me,” he teased.

“I’d never forget you, Trevor,” she said. “And I’ll never fall for some doctor.”

“How do you know?” he said. “You’ll go off to college and I’ll be as good as forgotten.”

“You’ll forget me first,” she said. “You already have. You’re the one who’s taking Emily Winters to the prom and everything.”

“It’s just another rite of passage.”

“A what?”

“It’s one of those things you’re expected to do at certain ages that transition you from one stage in life to another.”

“Oh, well. I’m not passing any rites with anyone but you,” She said.

“You’re too young to say that, Shanice. You’ve got a lot of growing up to do.”

“So do you.” She protested, just as he expected her to.

“Yeah, but I’m closer to twenty-one than you are, and I’ll be going off to college in a couple of years.”

“I know, but I won’t forget you,” Shanice said with conviction.

“How do you know this?” Trevor asked.

“Because I’m going to be like Amy March in Little Women.”

“Never heard of it,” Trevor said.

“Probably because boys think it’s stupid. But there is a Little Men, and Jo’s Boys and they’re about orphans and stuff. Anyway, they’re classics. Mom read the books when she was about my age, so she gave them to me for Christmas.”

“What does this have to do with you not forgetting me?”

“You’ll have to read Little Women to find out,” she said cryptically.

Summary

Rowan Elliott is devastated when her boyfriend, Finn, tells her he’s moving across the country to take over the family business, and thrilled when he changes his mind at the last minute and gets off the plane.

But then things get . . . weird. Finn’s acting strange, and Ro’s getting mysterious phone calls that have her questioning if her boyfriend’s really who she thinks he is. As Ro races to figure out what’s going on, she discovers it’s more complicated than she could have ever imagined.

And if she’s not careful, she could lose her Finn forever.

“Ro, I have no idea what you’re talking about,” he said, pulling to an abrupt stop in the parking lot of my apartment building. “I never left a voicemail. Not today.”

I fumbled in my bag for my phone. I was not imagining this. “You did. You called—” I thumbed through my calls and held it up victoriously so he could see. “—at 12:06 p.m. today. See?”

His eyes narrowed at the screen. “That says Private Number.

“Yeah. Yeah, I know. I was going to ask you about that.”

“Why do you think that was me?”

I rolled my eyes. “Because you left a voicemail!” My voice grew louder, a little screechy, but I couldn’t help it.

“Babe, I never left you a voicemail today!” Finn said, aggravation growing in his own tone. He pulled out his own phone and stabbed at it a few times. Finn’s familiar ringtone sounded on my phone, his picture popping up on the screen, along with his name.

“See?” he said. “At 12:06 I was driving. I didn’t call you. Whoever that Private Number was, it wasn’t me.” He tapped his phone and the ringtone stopped.

I stared at my phone and rubbed my forehead. My stomach roiled and an ache throbbed behind my eyes. “I don’t understand. I heard—”

“Let me listen to the voicemail.”

“It…got deleted.” I met Finn’s unreadable gaze and knew how it sounded. Weird. Crazy. But I had heard him. It was Finn.

Wasn’t it?

“I don’t know what’s happening,” I murmured, my hands trembling as I brushed the hair away from my face. “I know what I heard.”

“Ro,” Finn reached across the car to grab my hand, wrapping it up in both of his. “It’s okay.”

“But—”

“We’ll figure it out,” he said, eyes wide and earnest. “I’m right here. We’re together and we’ll figure it out, I promise.” He kissed my finger with a smile. “But after you sleep, okay?”

I forced a shaky smile. “Yeah. Okay.”

“You want me to walk you up?” he asked.

I shook my head. Suddenly, I wanted to be alone. To go to sleep. To not think about all of this for a while. “I’ll be fine. I’ll call you later?”

“Okay.” He leaned across the seat to kiss me. “Sleep well.”

I nodded and got out of the car, waving at Finn and only letting my smile fall once he drove away.

I wasn’t convinced. I knew what I had heard, and no matter what Finn said, it was him on that voice mail. I wondered if maybe the message was old— one I’d missed. I couldn’t imagine how that might have happened, but I wasn’t ruling it out just yet.

Because the alternative was one I wasn’t quite ready to explore: If it was a new voice mail, and it was Finn who’d left it, that meant he was lying to me.

And I had no idea why.

by Bev Elle

A date that goes awry for Jessamy somehow ends with her in Griffin’s arms. Will the changes he’s made be enough this time, or will secrets tear them apart?

Excerpt 1

“I have a couple of bottles of that merlot you like that we got in St. Augustine that one time. Would you like to share it with me tonight?”

A nightcap between friends. Jessamy could think of nothing she’d like better at the moment. “I’d be delighted.”

There was something different about Griffin. An undercurrent of confidence bordering on a swagger he had not possessed before. Jessamy could feel her body responding to this handsome, virile version of the man she had known so intimately before. She squeezed her thighs together and thought of the commanding heights they achieved when he made love to her, only to descend into agonizing depths once the deed was done, and then she relaxed her thighs.

When they arrived at his home, he took her hand and pulled her into the kitchen where he held a seat out for her at the gigantic island at its center, then opened the door to the pantry he’d turned half into a wine rack and retrieved the two bottles in question.

“You know, I feel bad enough after that failed date to drink both of those bottles myself,” she said.

Griffin hesitated as he set one and then the other on the bar in front of her. “I could bring out more,” he said.

“Just kidding,” she said with a grin. “If I drank both, you’d probably end up holding my hair at the end of the evening, and that’s not a good look on me.”

His mouth quirked up on one side as he reached into the cabinets and brought out pristine stemware. When he carried everything to his sitting room, they got comfortable on the sofa; soft music played in the background, and Griffin poured them both a generous glass and proposed a toast.

“To old friends starting over as new friends,” he said and touched his glass to hers.

Clearly, Griffin wanted another chance with her, but she wasn’t sure if she could withstand what them being together again would entail.

Jessamy proposed a lighter, less intimate toast. “To creepy dates. May neither of us have any of those ever again!”

“Here, here,” Griffin said, and they drank almost in perfect synchronicity.

“So these are really the last two bottles of that case you bought?” Jessamy took another sip, the smoky, natural sweetness bursting on her tongue.

“Yes. I gave a few bottles away as gifts, because I really never wanted to drink it with anyone besides you.”

She turned away slightly embarrassed by the earnestness in his eyes and in his words.

Fly Me To The Moon by Bev Elle – Ticketing agent Jessamy Taylor has been in a dating slump that was exacerbated when she moved her sickly mother in. Truth is, she’s never gotten over the quirky Dr. Griffin Sanderson whose OCD drives her crazy, despite his excellent bedside manner.

The Friendly Skies by Amanda Weaver – An unruly drunk, a misbehaving volcano and a re-routed flight lead to one steamy night for two strangers who meet on a plane.

About the Authors

Beth BoldenBeth Bolden lives in Portland,Oregon with one cat and one fiance. She wholly believes in Keeping Portland Weird, but wishes she didn’t have to make the yearly pilgrimage up to Seattle to watch her Boston Red Sox play baseball. After graduating from university with a degree in English, Beth unsurprisingly had no idea what to do with her life, and spent the next few years working for a medical equipment supplier, a technology company, and an accounting firm. Now Beth runs her own business as a Girl Friday for small business owners, assisting them with administration, bookkeeping and their general sanity.

Beth has been writing practically since she learned the alphabet. Unfortunately, her first foray into novel writing, titled Big Bear with Sparkly Earrings, wasn’t a bestseller, but hope springs eternal. Her first novel, The Lucky Charm, was published in May 2014 and its sequel, Getting Lucky will be available December 1, 2014.

T.M. FranklinT.M. Franklin started out her career writing nonfiction in a television newsroom. Graduating with a B.A. in Communications specializing in broadcast journalism and production, she worked for nine years as a major market television news producer, and garnered two regional Emmy Awards, before she resigned to be a full-time mom and part-time freelance writer. Her first published novel, MORE, was born out of a challenge to write a novel in thirty days issued during National Novel Writing month. MORE was well received, selected as a finalist in the 2013 Kindle Book Review Best Indie Book Awards, and won the Suspense/Thriller division of the Blogger Book Fair Reader’s Choice Awards.

In addition to MORE and its sequels, The Guardians and TWELVE, Franklin has penned the Amazon best-selling short stories, Window and A Piece of Cake. Her Amazon best-selling YA romance, How to Get Ainsley Bishop to Fall in Love with You, is Franklin’s first love story without traditionally recognized paranormal or fantasy elements. Although . . . T. M. is the first to argue that love is the best kind of magic.

EXCERPT

OBSIDIAN SKY by Lara Henley

“I can’t believe you’re fucking real; I dreamt of you, and that’s all you’ve ever been until now—a dream. I lie here, touching every inch of your body, and I know you’re real, but it feels like a dream. I can’t believe how fucking perfect you are, baby; that dream has nothing on the reality of you, Are’,” he says as he kisses down the length of my neck. Am I going to do this? Am I going to give myself to him here on this beach?

“I want you so badly. You’re on my mind every second of every day. I know you want to take things slowly but I have to have you now.” He nibbles down my legs and I’m in pure ecstasy.

“You can have whatever you want, Brandon. I’m yours.” I say barely mumbling the words out. “Take me Brandon, I’m yours.

“Fuck, don’t say stuff like that to me. It’s so fucking hot.”

“Take me, Brandon. You have no idea how long I’ve waited for you.” Wait what? Did I just say that shit to him?

“What do you mean?” he says, huffing as his lips make their way down to my breasts. The anticipation of his lips is setting my insides on fire.

“Look at me for a sec,” I say, lifting his head from my body. I miss him already. “I saw you, Brandon, in a store when we were kids. I never forgot your eyes for one second. You were with, I’m guessing, your mom and you looked at me like you’d known me for years. Like you peered into my soul and I never forgot you. I’ve been waiting for you ever since, and now, here you are.”

“Fuck, were you dressed in some little weird black dress and a white bonnet thing on?” He asks.

“Yeah, that was me.” Shit, I don’t want to get into this tonight.

“I remember you now. I knew I knew you. I remember wondering why you had on that weird dress. I hadn’t seen anything like that. My mom slapped my hand for staring at you for so long. I remember your hazel eyes, Are’. I never forgot them either. Come here, please.” I throw my arms around him and kiss him deep and hard. My tongue makes circles in his mouth and he moans, lighting a fire beneath me. “Hold on, baby. I have some blankets in the car we can use. I want to feel only you and not the sand.” As soon as Brandon lets me go, I immediately miss his warmth. He jogs over to the truck and comes back with three blankets. This is going to be a night that I’ll never forget.
